Since July 1, 2016 Rotary Clubs of Ukraine along with the Clubs from Belarus are included in the District 2232. Today Diistrict 2232 consists of 56 Clubs (Belarus - 4, Ukraine -52), totally about 908 Rotarians.

Formerly Ukrainian Rotary Clubs together with Clubs from Belarus and Poland were in District 2230. This district was established on 1 July 1997 consisting of 39 Polish clubs. Ukraine from 1991 to 1994, together with all Clubs in the former Soviet Union, was a part of District 1430 (Finland). In 1994, at the request of Past-District Governor 1680 (Alsace and Lorraine, France), RI President Bob Barth and the RI Board of Directors adopted the decision on the protectorate District 1680 RI over Ukraine. Responsible for Ukraine was Leon Laugel. Subsequently, Ukraine was allocated in Special Extension Area (SEA), and Leon Laugel was appointed President Extension Administrator (PEA).

From July 1999 SEA were eliminated, and the management of Rotary in Ukraine took over the Ukrainian Steering Committee of Rotary International, developed by RI Director Mario Grassi in August 1999 in Lviv. Coordinator USC was selected and approved by the RI Board of Directors Myroslav Gavryliv (RC Lviv).

In November 1999, the working conference of RI in Budapest under the leadership of RI President Carlo Ravizza developed the project, which, after ratification by all Clubs of Poland, Ukraine and Belarus was adopted by the RI Board of Directors in February 2000. This project involved the creation of 1 July 2000, united RI District 2230 in Belarus, Poland and Ukraine on the basis of District 2230 (Poland). Since the cadency 2016-2017 two new Districts were created from District 2230 - District 2231(Poland) and District 2232 (Belarus-Ukraine).

Hennadii Kroichyk from RC Lviv was  the first Governor of District 2232 in 2016-2017.

Member of RC Minsk-Ratusha Siarhei Filipau was District 2232 Governor in 2017-2018.

On 1st of July 2018 Sergii Zavadskyi, member of RC Kyiv-city, Rotarian since 2000, started to serve as District 2232 Governor.

District 2232 Governor 2018-2019


Sergii Zavadskyi was born in 1958 in the city of Dniprodzerzhinsk (now Kamianske). Since 1972, for more than 20 years Sergii has lived in Ivano-Frankivsk. There he graduated with honors from the Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Oil and Gas, and received his first profession - a mechanical engineer for the construction of oil and gas pipelines and petroleum storage facilities. For 10 years Sergii worked as an engineer at the Design Bureau, took part in research and development of equipment for the oil and gas industry.

In 1991, Sergii received his second higher education - a Master's degree in business administration (MBA) with honors from the International Institute of Management, MIM-Kyiv. Immediately upon graduation, together with a colleague, Sergii began to create a branch of this institute in Ivano-Frankivsk, directed the educational process. Now this educational institution is a full-fledged management institute.

In 1994, Sergii moved with his family to Kyiv and began working at the Representative office of the chemical concern DuPont de Nemur. He started his career there as marketing assistant and finished in 2006 as a Head of Representative Office and Director of DuPont-Ukraine. Working in this concern Sergii perfectly mastered the field of synthetic chemical fibers and their various applications.

Since 2007 Sergii has been working as an independent business development consultant and a representative of several foreign companies that mainly specialize in the production and processing of synthetic fibers for both textile and other industries, has also other business experience.

Sergii has joined Rotary in the year of 2000, he was twice the President of his first Kyiv-Pechersk Rotary Club, and in 2010 he and his friends organized a new club – RC Kiev City, a member of which he is today. Sergii was the Charter President of this club. As of 2011, Sergii actively participated as an officer in the development of the District 2230, and now in the District 2232. He served as Community Service Committee Chair, Assistant Governor, Representative of the Governor in Ukraine, the First Chairman of the Board of the Association of Rotary Clubs in Ukraine. He is the Chairman of the National Polio Plus Committee. For active participation in overcoming the outbreak of Polio in Ukraine Sergiireceived the Rotary Foundation Award - Regional Service Award for a Polio Free World.

As of July 1st 2018 Sergii Zabadskyi serves as a Governor of District 2232 (Belarus & Ukraine). His wife Nadiia supports him in these activities.
