The group of Ukrainian children returned from the journey to Belgium

From July 6 to July20, 2017 the second by order rehabilitation program "STAR SUMMER 2017. BELGIUM" was held.

Project "STAR SUMMER" was organized by ICC Ukraine-Belgium-Luxemburg and started from 1.11.2017. A project will proceed to November, 2017 and will be finished by the exhibition of children's works in Kyiv. 15 Rotary Clubs from Ukraine and 16 Rotary Clubs from Belgium took part in a project. More than 250 children’s artistic works sanctified to history and culture of Belgium were presented to selection of competition "With the SOUL - To BELGIUM". The known Belgian artist Nadiya Synychak chose eight best works.

A group of 23 children consisted of two parts. 15 children were children of our soldiers that perished, securing Motherland in the war in the zone of АТО and 8 children were winners of artistic competition (from many children families, migrants and of scanty means families).

On the program of rehabilitation we visited Poland and Belgium. During these 15 days children passed an unique rehabilitation course. We passed more than 1500 km on the wheels and walked approximately 100 kilometers!!! 1000 liters of water were drunk and more than 400 pictures were drawn.

But the most important - children have got unforgettable experience of communication, work in a command and boundless amount of love, warm, caring! There were psychological trainings, active motions, intermingling with nature and animals. Each of children studied to be independently responsible for the acts to understand how to work in a group, trust to others and feel the "shoulder of friend".

Due to enormous work of Jean-Pierre Ksenich and Rudy Panise - a journey and results surpassed all expectations.

Command of accompanying adults - Rotarians and professional psychologists accomplished a little miracle, for what I am sincerely grateful to them.

Olga Zmiiyvska, Head of ICC Ukraine-BeLux
